Appeals Due Process
Empowering students. Supporting instructors. Ensuring institutional integrity.
Why Appeals Matter
At HonestIQ, we believe academic integrity should be balanced with academic justice. Our built-in Appeals Management System ensures every student has a voice, every instructor has support, and every administrator has clarity. By offering a structured, confidential, and fair appeal process, we reinforce trust and transparency across the learning experience.
HonestIQ Appeals Process
Built to protect academic fairness and ensure due process for all.
Your Voice Matters
HonestIQ allows students to appeal flagged assignments if they believe an AI or plagiarism detection was made in error or the resulting penalty was unfair. Here’s how it works:
- Notification: You’ll be alerted when a flagged submission results in instructor action.
- Submit Appeal: Click “Submit Appeal” within 72 hours and provide your explanation and supporting files.
- Independent Review: Your appeal is reviewed anonymously by the Integrity Committee — not by your instructor.
- Final Outcome: You’ll receive a fair, unbiased decision with a written rationale.
All appeals are confidential, evidence-based, and do not affect unrelated grades.
Collaborate with Integrity
Support Process with Context, Not Judgment
Instructors play a critical role by providing clarity not making final decisions. When an appeal is submitted:
- You’ll be Notified: Instructors receive an alert with the appeal summary.
- Share Context: You can submit a brief explanation and any related documents (rubric, prior feedback, etc.).
- Remain Neutral: The final decision is handled by the Integrity Committee and the admin or compliance officer.
Your insight ensures the committee makes a fully informed decision without bias.
Oversee with Confidence
Guide Appeals from Submission to Resolution
HonestIQ gives administrators full oversight of academic appeals while empowering a structured review process.
- Dashboard View: Track all active appeals by student, course, or flag type.
- Committee Management: Assign or rotate reviewers from a 5-member Integrity Committee.
- Anonymous Review: Committee members independently assess each case without collaboration.
- Final Judgement: Review all committee reports and issue final ruling with a formal summary.
Built-in audit logs, reporting tools, and policy versioning ensure transparency at every step.
